The Art of Seeing the Heart of a Child
If you genuinely love my child or a child in my life,
you have also won my respect and deepest gratitude.
I have been blessed with such a friend, the talented artist
and teacher Laurie Brenden.
She has the ability to empathetically connect with children
and young teens through patient listening and observation.
Through a myriad of creative artistic media, she gives children the tools whereby
they can express their inner worlds in a safe and affirming environment.
Her summer classes with my young neice Charlotte allowed this teen a venue
in which she could pursue her love of anime with a warm and welcoming mentor.
Laurie has also gifted a local Auburn church with a wall-to-wall
jungle themed classroom mural and several Vacation Bible School 3-D sets.
Her fearless use of color produces works that delight the eyes
and invite a sense of joy.
It is my privilege to have worked alongside her,
to have been inspired by her art and to call her my friend.
